WHAT I SAW - COYOTES VS DUCKS 12/29/14

WHAT I SAW - Coyotes (4) vs Flyers (2) 12/29/14

YANDLE - Had to give Dubnyk his stick in the 1st while the Flyers were pressuring. Dubnyk's body language was kind of like "how do you expect me to protect the 5 hole with this toothpick?" Yandle is not making some of the clearing mistakes he made earlier this year.

DOAN - Just decided late in the 1st that he'd go ahead and nail one past Mason. I mentioned the other night I would like to see him be a little more selfish at times and tonight it paid off. (Note - I guess this goal was later credited to Vermette).

HANZAL - Had a pretty good open ice hit in the 2nd. He then skated down and was open for a  pass on a breakaway but no one saw him. Or maybe they did and thought..no..no we only need to have 1 goal right now.

MY BACK - has been killing me today and I am too uncomfortable to get up and heat up my pasta.

TYSON - Speaking about the Coyotes
"They can never get out-worked. They don't have enough skill to allow that to happen." So much for people saying he's never got on this teams case. It's kind of like your wife saying she needs to monitor your vacuuming, because you are likely to just miss half the floor some days.

THAT CROWD - Is it me or were just a crap load of upset Flyers fans at the Gila tonight?

GORMLEY - Looks like he swallowed a bug right before Tyson's interview on the bench.

RIEDER - Had a great shot in the 2nd get saved by Mason. He was quiet the first half of the  game registering just 2 shots. His defense is improving, in the 2nd he stopped a break away
by stealing the puck as it looked like the Flyers were on a sure breakaway. Well okay, let me just say I think it was Rieder...he is so fast all I am really seeing is a red blur. He is seriously too much for almost every team we play so they have to trip him and take penalty's n crap.

VERMETTE - Had both goals after 2 on 3 shots. This was probably the strongest game I've seen him have in awhile. He is another guy this team would really benefit from if he keeps it rolling. (Note - later Vermy said it went of the Flyers D into the net. It should be Doan's goal). Regardless he was able to celebrate a hat-trick tonight.

CRAYON - Was credited with an assist tonight He's been skating better but still not getting the production we've seen him have in the past.

GAUDET - Who? Are we just letting fans put on jersey's now? He did look like he had a lot of hustle.

OEL - Has been tearing it up lately on offense. How much? Well he currently is tied with BOEDS for goals. Only Vermette after tonight has more than BOEDS and OEL. He did have a few lazy shifts in the 3rd one of which lead to the 2nd Flyers goal.

SIMMONS - To dive or not to dive...that is the question. Tis simpler to score on a power play...

WATCH OUT - Apparently hockey is exploding in the Valley. You might get some on you so look out!! Maybe get some hockey repellent er something.

STONE - had a really good game tonight. He did get crossed up with Korpy on the goal by Umberger but it wasn't for lack of effort. It was just a bit of un-luck.

DUBNYK - Can get feisty. He took a couple shots at dive or not to dive late in the 3rd. I love  feisty goalies. Not temper tantrum goailes, but goalies that don't put up with garbage. I am a SMITH fan, but I say we ride this wave as long as we can.

KORPY - No shots on goal. He was also the only player to manage to be on the ice during both of the Flyers goals.

MOSS - was kind of un-sung tonight but I thought he was strong on the puck and even got into the offense a bit.

HEAT - yeah, I am not going to lie. That pasta is calling my name. It's saying...Jess...stop typing...
