WHAT I SAW - COYOTES VS OILERS 12/16/14

IT CAME OUT OF THE ICE - 4 minutes into the 1st the Coyotes had the puck in the offensive zone and suddenly 2 of our players just fell down without being touched.

STONE - Took a hit in the 1st period that was the kind of thing you get fined for. No call on the play. Pinizzotto might be getting called to the principal's office tomorrow morning.

MY CAT - Took an ill advised leap into my lap and missed. When she hit the ground it sounded like a rock hitting the ground. She's totally fine though.

DOAN - Was in front of Scrivens a LOT tonight, but never seemed to be in the right spot for the rebound. At least 2 times he was couple of times he was just a half second from scoring.

MCMILLIAN - Was arm tackled by an Edmonton played and sliced to the ice on his back. He then gets up only to have VITALE high stick him in the the neck. Later on he was mugged by a bunch of Edmonton fans and apparently his wallet was taken. Okay, that last part may or may not have actually happened. He did however have a goal in the 2nd then ran into a Oilers players butt mid-celebration.

DUBNYK - The big change in the start of the season to now is the fact that Dubnyk is now giving up just about as many crazy rebounds as Smith is. He only faced 5 shots in the entire 2nd period.

PETRY - From Edmonton...if you ever saw THE LAND BEFORE TIME you know you were thinking it.

THAT LADY - Behind Jim Playfair dropped at least some of her popcorn while on screen. Folks this is how it's done. If some of that popcorn doesn't end up on your lap, you are being way to freakin careful.

CHIPS - Had some great puck handling in the offensive zone in the 2nd, but the rebound on his  shot was missed by both Coyotes in front of the net. Chips also got hit by an Edmonton player just like Stone only not as bad. That did get the refs attention. Chips did miss a clean pass from Crayon in the 3rd that would have likely been a goal.

HI MOM - great sign in the front row.

RIEDER - had 2 solid shots on the PP in the 2nd. One ended up over the net, but Scrivens shut the door a few times as well.

WHERE DID YOU COME FROM - Cotton eyed Joe....

HANZAL - Had a ton of effort tonight. Even when the puck was getting poked away from him, he was finding ways to get it back and deflect it to his own players. At one point he lead the team in shots, but then...then the Coyotes just got out of freaking control in the shots on goal department. They actually broke the team record for shots in a period in the 2nd (27).

GAGNER - Did not like being benched. He had a great game tonight really helping his line hold puck possession. He also was one of the leaders in shots for awhile.

THE KINGS - Umm, yeah they lost again. So you know..that's good.

VITALE- Had a killer assist on that McMillian goal...holy cow. He also killed off the final 25 seconds of a late Edmonton PP almost single handedly.

BOEDS - Crickets, the only Coyote that did not have a shot on net after 2 periods. He also had a wide open shot on the PP and decided to pass it to Yandle.

VERMETTE, BOEDKER and YANDLE - All currently have more points on the season than Taylor Hall.

CRAYON - had a quiet but good night. Just 2 shots though. I'd like to see him take more.

OEL - Had a good night on D. 5 shots on net. Hopefully this kind of play will continue. He did have the puck taken from him late in the game but was quick enough to prevent a complete breakaway for Edmonton. Late he would nail the game winner with 0.03 seconds left in OT.
