WHAT I SAW - COYOTES (0) VS BLUES (6) 1/6/15
CAPSULE - COYOTES ended the night 15-20-4. 13 pts out of 8th-6th place.
BLUES ended the night 24-13-3 good enough for 4th in the West.
VERMETTE - gets hit in the face with a puck 26 seconds into the game and leaves a bunch of blood behind the net. Of course he came back before the period was even over because ...hockey. VERMETTE was also featured on "Bloody Nose Cam" late in the 3rd.
SMITH - over extended on a save within the 1st minute and he was shaken up. After making 9 epic saves he then decided it was time for St. Louis to score and promptly sent a pass right up the middle that was miss-handled and put in the Coyotes net. Smith started out fairly solid, but looked absolutely terrible after that thanks to our Iceland like defense tonight.
OEL - got jacked late in the in the 1st and the penalty did get called. I could see a suspension coming on the play. I can also see CROMBEEN hunting down Schwartz and making a dent in his face.
PP - At the start of the 2nd the Coyotes seemed as if they had completely forgotten they were on the PP for a full 2 minutes...zero shots ...zero. St. Louis got a PP in the 2nd and scored in what seemed like 4 seconds.
WAIT - Do you remember when we talked about pasta... is it bad that I still want some pasta right now?
KORPY - played center in place of HANZAL tonight. That didn't really work out. It's kind of like having spam try and play bacon on your sandwich. Spam will never be bacon. I don't care what anyone says, this team just is NOT the same without HANZAL in the lineup. KORPY did have a great chance to score in the second, but no...no.
VITALE - Had a solid game and looked like he had the wheels going. This team can't have too many nights where guys are not giving it 100%. No not 110% because that is not mathematically possible.
GORMLEY - Had several shots in the 2nd but couldn't get anything on net. We may have to nickname him STORMTROPPER.
MURPHY - Also got jacked in the 2nd against the boards. When he came out for the 3rd the Coyotes were down 4-0....does MURPHY care...no. I really like this kid.
STONE - got beat on a breakaway early in the 3rd, allowing Backes to score his 4th goal on the night completely ruining SMITH's 4 goals allowed standard. Then again, the Blues would score again and that one was just a great shot.
SATURDAY - I am taking my son to the OTTAWA game. I will be eating some serious Timbits.
CHIPS - No...not a good game. He had 2 minors against him in what seemed to be some sort of bizarre effort to catch up to CROMBEEN in penalty minutes.
YANDLE - Had a terrible game tonight. He did make several pretty awesome passes to the Blues though...so maybe it's just a perspective thing.
DOAN - Needed to have a LOT more fire tonight. 2 shots on net is not going to cut if for the captain. MC MILLAN had 2 shots. Okay well there was a little fire late in the game when he grabbed Berglund by the neck and threw him to the ice like a rag doll, but that isn't the kind of fire I meant.
THAT KID - Behind DOAN in the penalty box, he's not ready for bed...he was jamming out.
