WHAT I SAW - COYOTES (3) VS MAPLE LEAFS (1) 1/29/15
CAPSULE - COYOTES 17-25-6 on the season. They are currently 15 pts out of a playoff spot. MAPLE LEAFS 22-24-4 currently 10 pts out of playoff spot in the East.
SMITH - Only allowed one goal tonight. I am sure Todd will ask him what the heck is going on here.
REIDER - Has a pretty good backcheck. If he catches you, you are not going to have the puck anymore.
THE ONE GIRL - Was texting, but I don't know how she was seeing the screen. You could barely even see her face though her hair.
CAMPBELL - had a nice deflection in on SMITH, but was unable to direct it into our net. He didn't bother shooting on the other teams goalie. In the 3rd he committed a penalty after we took the lead...the lead man. #minors.
LESSIO - Must have been pretty freakin cool to have his parents in the arena. As for his night, LESSIO had some good jump again early on.
GAGNER - Had 6 shots on net. That is more than his usual for about 3 games.
There are few guys on the team right now that I would love to see start producing more than him. Oh wait...he just scored, never mind.
CHIPS - Holy crap... that was a pretty intense high stick. Now get back on the ice. Wait...hang on...do the stiches first...or at least a little duck tape.
I DON'T KNOW - Maybe that thing on BERNIER's mask is a ghost lion?
GRETSKY - Had very little "great" to offer in the way of coaching, but he did have a philosophy about penalties. If you get a 4 minute penalty or a 5 on 3 in your favor and you don't score, then you deserve to lose the game.
OEL - Might be my hero of the night. Dude scored a short-handed goal from behind center ice. Ridiculous and awesome... man oh man. Dun nu nu...dun nu nu (EPSN). This is why you don't take nights off when it comes to watch hockey kids. Even better if you can get out and lace em up. That wasn't his only shot though, OEL registered 8 shots on net.
MOSS - So close, you gotta be rooting for this guy to get one in the net. He also had a really gutsy block late in the 3rd.
DOAN - Another 1 million pass night with not enough shots. Common captain. Get it going. Also at least right now a lot of his passes are missing the mark. Also - you are my favorite player of all time, thanks for signing all my stuff. Sorry about that dumb coffee maker back in 2004...
HANZAL - had a really solid night scoring his 8th goal on the season. For anyone thinking HANZAL hasn't been good for us, he does have the 5th most goals on the team. He has the 4th most assists. So settle down.
VERMETTE - Normally known for his offense, made a sick play late in the 3rd that probably avoided at least a pretty serious shot on net for the LEAFS. We are not talking about a funny shot, it's one of those shots that doesn't tell jokes or anything. A serious shot.
CRAYON - Had his mad face on during a late hit on OEL...HANZAL was also in on the "don't touch our half ice shot guy or we will jack you up" scuffle.
SO - It looks like Regis Philbin's brother is now coaching the MAPLE LEAFS. The TORONTO fans apparently also hate their entire team. -- OH, and there goes another LEAFS jersey.
