WHAT I SAW - COYOTES (3) VS CANUCKS (2) OT
CAPSULES - We don't talk about the COYOTES record right now. The CANUCKS
currently hold the 6th spot in the west.
REIDER - Just signed a 136 year contract with the ARIZONA COYOTES. Damn this guy is good. REIDER had a breakaway in OT and couldn't get it past the CANUCKS goalie LACK but we don't care because he scored a goal earlier in the game.
GAGNE - Had more penalty minutes than shots on goal for the game. No, no that is not how it's done. To his credit he did have an assist and scored in the shootout. His decision making is about 2 seconds too slow right now.
THREADS - It was pointed out that DOAN is the only player on the COYOTES that ever wore the old katchina uniforms. What wasn't pointed out was that the
last time the Pittsburg Steelers wore those bumble bee uniforms for an entire season.... most of us were not even ALIVE!
I WAS CAUGHT - In the middle of a railroad track...thunder,
I looked around, and I knew there was no turning back... thunder...
SMITH - Well so far I haven't seen him jump over any pucks tonight. He did however have one of his more classic "let me put the puck right in front of the net while I am behind it" moments in the 2nd. Other than that fun stuff, this is a far better SMITH than we saw at the beginning of the season. He should have had the saves on both goals in the 3rd. He may have even caused the regulation tying goal, but at least took care of business in the shootout.
MISSING O - I would normally say this about the COYOTES, but no, this time it's about the Veequiva sign behind SMITH. It says "Hotel & Casin". Did someone just take the "o" off "Casino"?
MOSS - The CANUCKS were pressing midway through the 2nd and MOSS was quite literally getting knocked all over the ice defending someone behind the net? Now...now do you know why I think he may not even be a forward. He has 2 D-men for that. Well not the getting knocked all over the ice part.
MURPHY - This dude is throwing down over a hit on REIDER. I freakin love this guy. He lost the fight, but he is like 7 years old, so that would be expected. I got my butt kicked by NHL players I tried to fight when I was 7 also.
STONE - Was battling hard all night against bigger guys. Looking at his ice time, he may be the guy aside from OEL that want a lot of YANDLE's minutes going to. It will be interesting to see how he does with the added minutes.
CROMBEEN - I think got the blamed for the COYOTES 2nd goal but hats off to McGINN for putting something on net. Oh...never mind. McGINN gets his second goal of the year. Wait? We picked up a left winger with 1 goal on the season? What the? Anyway, hats off to McGINN.... thank God he is with an offensive juggernaut like the COYOTES now, instead of lowly SAN JOSE. (Sarcasm exhibit A)
G1GA BLAST - I don't care what the commercial says... I highly doubt you will be able to make 3D food with faster internet. I do think that little kids can make 3D foot just by using their hands and flinging it around.
CRAYON - Had to mug like 4 CANUCKS before they called him for a penalty in the 3rd. He did have a couple pretty good shots at the net tonight.
DOAN - Actually smiled in his pre-game interview. He is not the type of guy to let crap get him down long. Overall a solid night skating and a little better on the passes than he's been the past couple games. DOAN had a massive break away (yes I said massive) and couldn't put it in the net in OT. 2 of DOAN's 4 shots were in OT.
CHIPS - I can't fault his effort after the trade deadline. Just wish he was a bit more productive.
ARC-REACTOR - Quietly had a solid 3rd period. Ended the night as one of the shot leaders on the ice. He missed his shot in the shootout so maybe practice that a little if you want to continue to play for the COYOTES.
DAHLBECK - was credited with an assist but I didn't see the same level of effort he had Tuesday night.
OEL - Really solid night. Only 2 shots on net, but he really was driving the defensive effort.
COFFEE - I actually didn't have any tonight. Kind of a shocker.
