WHAT I SAW - COYOTES (2) VS WILD (1) OT 12/11/15
CAPSULES : Coyotes 14-14-1 / Since the last time we posted a blog. The Coyotes are 0-5. Currently sitting in 10th in the West, the Coyotes can move no higher than 9th tonight. Totally without our permission and everything. Wild 14-8-5 / The Wild have been sitting around for so long they have somehow managed to play LESS games than any other team in the entire league up to this point.
KEYS TO THE GAME -
1) MR MIYAGI needs to come do his little magic trick on DOAN and HANZAL to help with their injuries.
2) One of the goalies needs to stay in the middle net while two other players just stand there on both sides, creating an impenetrable Spartan-esque shield.
3) Talk VANEK into eating some chili nachos left over from the last home game.
TOMORROW - Jenn and I won't be doing a blog because we will be at the game with Logan.
VERMETTE - Had 3 of the team's first 4 shots tonight. This is not a good picture offensively.
THE BOARDS - They take awhile to fix apparently.
BOEDS - I was on his case a bit to start the year, but his toughness is starting to show more often. In the second, he was held while the COYOTES were putting pressure on. What should have been a clear penalty lead to a WILD breakaway and a goal. Later he would repay the favor and bury one past KUEMPER.
STONE - If he ever finds out where to put the puck on his shots.... he is going to be incredibly dangerous. Like falling rocks on a highway when you are doing 80mph. He did have a weird delay of game penalty in the first. I still don't understand how this ever happens when you are an NHL player.
POWERPLAY - Is just a fancy name for regular game time when we get one.
EGGNOG - That is right... and breakfast for dinner. That is how it went down.
RICHARDSON - May not play tomorrow night's game. He was decapitated tonight.
THE KINGS - Are freakin' annoying.
TIKHONOV - Was given a high-sticking penalty at the end of the first, but it was caused by getting held by COYLE. Just another piece of evidence in the book of bad officiating this season.
DOMI - Does better in the open ice. They need to set up more plays for him rather than having him set them up. DOMI draws a lot of penalties just trying to get to spots because he scares the crap out of other teams. He got tripped in the 2nd while the team was on the PP and for some bizarre reason it wasn't called? I don't think I have seen a game ever this poorly officiated. Even down to a bad cross-checking call against the WILD late in the 3rd. Looked to me like
OEL was going into the boards anyway.
OEL - Part-time hockey player, full-time OEL of Sweden cap and underwear fashionista.
MARTINOOK - Was really solid on the PK. I know TYSON keeps picking on his play last year, but man, what an improved player overall.
GROSSMAN - Whatever he was doing right at the beginning of the year isn't happening now.
SOG - We typically keep the internet open to track shots on net during the game. I thought at first the page wasn't reloading....but no. It's just that the Coyotes weren't getting any shots on net.
WHERE DID YOU COME FROM - Where did you go, where did you come from cotton-eyed Joe?
DAHLBECK - Had a really solid game largely unnocticed. He was almost always perfectly positioned as to not get in LINDBACK's way if he wasn't going to stop the puck.
GORDON - Another night where you had to send your bench if you wanted the puck from him along the boards.
DOAN - You can feel his presence missing, on the PP especially.
DUCLAIR - For the first time in awhile... crickets.
PARISE - The look on his face after the game was priceless.
LINDBACK - Was an absolute rock star tonight. Holy cow, he was awesome.
