WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (2) VS PENGUINS(3) (OT) 1/18/19
INTRO – It’s been a long three years since last blog post. I don’t get paid for this (clearly, this content is just whacky), so writing about the team hasn’t been a priority over some of the other hobbies I have, that do make money. Anyway, long story short, some people really enjoyed when I was writing before and I usually can find some humor or wit even in a loss. So – on nights I am NOT at a game you should get a blog post. Unless I am just super busy. Welcome to IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE.
KELLER – What a KELLER shot. Clayton tallies a PP goal in the first from downtown. “You want him handling the puck, you need him handling the puck” –Tyson Nash
KUEMPER – Was standing on his head late in the 1st and in the 3rd as well as OT. I also love his freakin mask. He also gave Pittsburg at least 2 pepperoni-pizza’s tonight. Not every save needs to be a pass to the other team. Feeling more and more confident in him every game.
SHOTS – The number of shots for the Coyotes after the 1st period was 14. The 2nd period was just 4. Bloody Hell. We did end up with 32 shots.
GARLAND - Had a terrible penalty in the 2nd (Interference). Not a good start tonight for him which is rare. Unfortunately, that lead to a Pittsburgh goal and essentially the next one because the Coyotes had a tough time getting it back out of the zone after that. Garland is a freakin hockey player if I have ever seen one though. He registered an assist tonight.
ANTACID - I should have picked some up on the way home tonight.
THAT BABY – Getting baptized in the Stanley Cup did not look happy.
OEL – Seems to be taking a LOT more shots lately. I am a BIG fan of that. We scored a goal in the 3rd, but it was determined the OEL interfered with the goalie. Pretty sure that isn’t something you call if the player is outside of the crease, but the Coyotes have had a lot of reviewed calls go their way lately, so having the goal waived off by the head office in Toronto isn’t a shocker.
CROUSE – Had a huge block in the 2nd, he was clearly hurt, but the refs let him off the ice after an icing call on the Coyotes.
HJALMARSSON – Had a solid first 2 periods, stealing the puck from Crosby several times. The 3rd was more of a scramble than a defensive battle.
THAT HAIR – On the Tyson Nash trash talking doll is really rough.
WEAL – Finished the game with a team low 11:02 on the ice.
DINOSAURS – On the ice tonight. I am actually considering going to JURASSIC
FIGHT NIGHT on February 17th.
TORONTO – The Maple Leafs are apparently taking some time off from being good. Lost tonight to the Panthers 3-1.
KEMPE – When he feels like it, has been known to just run right into the net.
CHARBROILED DOUBLE DEALS – You can probably guess how this is going to go…. Oh. … s—t $2.49!!!
DANCING BEAR – Had a great shot in the 3rd. I know he’s on D, but I would not mind seeing him take those chances more.
GALCHENYUK – 1 shot all night isn’t going to cut it. You are better than this.
STEPAN – (Steps) Gets it done in the 3rd giving the Coyotes their second goal of the game.
THE ANIMATION – In ANTZ has not held up well.
OVR-TYME (someone might have this license plate, but if they don't. You're welcome.
WRAP UP – Huge point for the Coyotes. Rather than 5 pts out of a playoff spot, we remain at just 4 pts out.
STRANGEST QUOTE FROM A FAN AFTER THE GAME – “Kuemper is trash. He needs to be removed from all hockey organizations immediately.” Clearly this person was watching an old tape or some crap like that. Kuemper was EPIC tonight.
