WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (3) VS SENATORS(2) 1/22/19

ROAD TRIP – I was still on my way home for the 1st period so a lot of observations from the 1st period are what I heard, not what I saw.

FEEL FREE TO PANIK (14) – 2 Assists less than half way through the game. One of his best efforts of the season.

STEPHAN (21) – Put one in the net just over 6 minutes into the 2nd after
HINOSTROZA scored yet another goal. The fact that he almost always has near the most shots fired on net just show you how much of a fighter this seasoned vet is.

HINOSTROZA (13) - Is pretty damn ridiculous right now. 2 goals on the night, like I mentioned before. Really smart play on top of production has been key for the Coyotes lately. He’s been playing out of his mind for several games now. He also looks like he doesn’t like interviews.

PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD AND STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE – Never take time to talk to your car like you want to make out with it, when your wife or really anyone is sitting in it. #settledowntoyota

FISCHER (36) – Got a penalty called on him in the 1st, but I am not a big fan of the power play for Ottawa because retaliatory slashing on their part was over looked. Kind of like when  a dude slams on his breaks in front of you doing 60 mph, but you get blamed for hitting him as if you had the power to make time stand still. Okay…actually the two things aren’t related at all.

TO GOAL OR NOT TO GOAL – It seems like teams coaches have just been told to challenge every single Coyotes goal that they can. The one we thought we had in the first however, I can see that not being one. Intent to blow the whistle is sometimes your friend and sometimes your enemy.

DON’T TELL ME WHAT I CAN, AND CONNAUTON  DO (44) – We haven’t seen him in a while, but he’s looked sharp here early. Nice game overall.
THE LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE 2ND – Were like a giant power play for the Coyotes.

GALCHENYUK (17) – You are wanted on set. 0 Shots, 0 Goals, 0 Assists for the entire night. Pretty sure last game I requested that you shoot more? Are you not reading this thing? Just kidding. You’ve got this.

NOT FOR WEAL (10) – He’s shown some flashes of good, but I am kind of wondering if he’s going to end up getting  sent down or traded back to someone, once Richardson comes back. It feels like he is one of very few players on the team over playing the puck right now.

OEL (23) – Out for the game with a lower body injury. Not the kind of news we need. Hopefully he’s back in the lineup tomorrow. It started getting more and more obvious he’s a big part of stabilizing this team as the 3rd period rolled along.

WASHINGTON – Has been sucking for a while now, and decided to validate me putting them at #15 in my Power Rankings. The SHARKS scored a touchdown on them tonight winning 7-6 in OT.

TYSON – Was on point tonight during the second intermission. I typically love his commentary, but it seems like his confidence is coming along in line with the Coyotes game.

WHAT THE CRAP – Geez guys, never talk about the Coyotes win , loss record when leading after 3. Don’t you know how hockey works?

ROAST – I couldn’t go to a roast of SHANE DOAN, I might be tempted to go full ALICE COOPER (no more Mr. Nice Guy) on someone just for making fun of him.

COUSINS (25) – I would love to see him get going. He’s been pretty solid on his line, but some of those passes are almost too soft.

HJALMARSSON (4) Is taking lessons from GARLAND on how to be a total bad a-s. Injury to the face in the 3rd…no big deal.

FACEOFFS – Not a strong point.

KEMPE (29) – Has got to start winning some face offs if they are going to keep throwing him in the circle. He’s been a nightmare for other teams outside of that one facet of the game.

OESTERLE (82) – Has quietly had 4 or 5 solid games in a row. He’s kind of like having a second goalie on the ice. He did have a momentary lapse of judgement late in the game and fell on his butt. Ehh, we’ve all done that.

CROUSE (67) – Has a chip on his shoulder tonight, he is just not having it. Great physical game tonight knocking people around.

KUEMPER (25) – Stood on his head late in the game. Lots of great saves tonight. Damn this guy is a WALL right now.

KELLER (9) – Had a great opportunity late, but the puck got away from him, because they weren’t getting along tonight. Apparently they got in a fight before the game and the puck decided to spend the night eating popcorn in the corner and pouting about how hard it is being round.

WRAP UP – The Coyotes are now 2pts out of a playoff spot. We’ve got a tough one tomorrow night on a back to back. No rest for the boys from the desert.
