WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (2) VS PREDATORS (5) 2/5/19

KELLER (9) – Got cross checked by Forsberg in the 3rd  drawing a penalty against the Preds. Oddly he wasn’t called for slashing Forsberg to the ground right after that. He also made a bad pass in the 3rd that lead to a Preds breakaway and their 4th goal on the night.

WEAL (10) –Had to be one of the freshest players on the ice for the Coyotes since almost every night he has the lowest ice time. Deep into the 3rd he hadn’t even registered a shot.

HINOSTROZA (13) – Had a freakin sick move on RINNE, in the 1st and scored a great goal. He has a hurt finger so he didn’t take time to even smile after scoring. All business.  The penalty called on him in the 2nd was total garbage.

IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT – I am a huge Tyson Nash fan, but I find it funny when he says “the other night” in reference to “last night”. Come Tyson, you know we played last night right, not like 2 or 3 nights ago.

GALCHENYUK (17) – Must be starting to feel it a bit. In the 2nd he ripped on off the post that would have tied the game at the time.

POWER PLAY – Chirp, chirp, chirp……

STEPHAN (21) – Scored the 2nd goal of the night for the Coyotes on a wrap around.  I thought goalies figured out that move back in the 90’s but clearly that isn’t the case.  Is this guy plugged into something? Where does he get this energy?

COUSINS (25) – Got forced to play a lot of defense tonight, odd only due to the fact that he’s a forward.

RICOLA – Not sure it works as well as Halls, and you only get 19 drops. What the heck?

KEMPE (29) – Looked a little off tonight, I am guessing Tocchet saw that too, because after 2 periods his minutes were way down.

VANCOUVER -  Lost again tonight. Very helpful.  Once again it means we can’t finish the night more than 3pts out of a playoff spot.

ARCHIBALD (45) – Definitely is not fatigued tonight. The dude has 5 shots to lead the team well into the 3rd.

CROUSE (67) – Got into it at the end of the 2nd with a Preds player. I love seeing fire in these guys even when they are down, they don’t give up.

FACEOFFS – When I saw we had actually won 17 face-offs going into the 3rd period, I almost fell out of my chair.

OEL (23) – Played with a ton of effort, but some of that effort landed him in the penalty box

GOLIGOSKI (33) – If he wasn’t a hockey player he wouldn’t have started tonight.

THE DUCKS – Continue their decent into oblivion. They had the same amount of points we do, but this is a team that looked destined for the playoffs 3 weeks ago.

LYUBUSHKIN (46) – Struggled getting the puck out of the zone tonight, which wasn’t good because the rest of the D was pretty much in the same boat.

CAPOBIANCO (75) – I would like to see more of him on the ice. Very solid game tonight.

OESTERLE (82) – Had a tough break trying to clear the zone in the 2nd, that lead to the Predators 2nd goal. Overall it just wasn't his night.

PICKARD (30) – Once you get passed Raanta and Kuemper our goalies are middle of the road at best. Pickard was actually pretty great most of the night with the number of shots he faced. We needed to play a lot better in front of him.

WRAP UP – The Preds outplayed us tonight in the 2nd period and that was enough. The Coyotes are fortunate that the teams ahead of them also lost tonight. They need to get things going on Thursday against the Bluejackets. As of now, they are still very much in the playoff hunt.
