WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (3) VS CANUCKS (2) 2/21/19 OT

FISH – During the 1st intermission, I kid you not. I am going to make some fish and maybe noodles.

KELLER (9) – Nice puck possession and passing in the offensive zone, but I would like to see him take more than just 3 shots with just under 3 minutes to go in the game. It’s been a long time since he’s produced offensively.

WEAL (10) – Not a terrible game, but his last few were quite a bit better than this one.

HINOSTROZA (13) – His speed is every other teams absolute nightmare.

CHYCHRUN (6) – Got a pass from HINOSTROZA in the 1st. Instead of completing the one timer, he kinda just sent it back towards the Coyotes defensive zone. As if that wasn’t where we are trying ridiculously hard to stay away from.  Hockey however is all about redemption. He put a puck past the
CANUCKS goalie with 9 minutes left in the 3rd.

KEMPE (29) – Had a great chance about 35 seconds in but just couldn’t get the puck over the Vancouver goalies left pad.

RICHARDSON (15) – Had a nice close in shot in the 1st. No score, but early in this game it looked like RICHARDSON was getting his skates under him again.

GALCHENYUK (17) – Was playing like a man on fire tonight. His game for the last several nights has just been outstanding for the most part. He had the assist on the CHYCHRUN goal. He also scored the game winner in OT. Probably the sickest goal he’s scored all year.

OEL (23) – Coughed up a puck in the defensive zone in the 1st and the Canucks scored a goal on the play. I think I have said a ton of times, I love OEL, but defensively lately he has seemed like he doesn’t understand the urgency of the game or what to do with the puck. This is pretty odd for a guy wearing the “C”. Even his passes don’t seem to be going anywhere. He did have an assist and hit the post on the PP, so it’s not like he wasn’t trying to give the team a push as the game went along.

AVOCADOS - Are ridiculously good for your heart

GARLAND (83) – Lead the team along with KELLER in shots on net headed into the 3rd period. Each had just 3 meaning the offense was nowhere to be found for the first 40 minutes.

SLEEPWALKING – I don’t expect I will ever sleep walk and end up at a Toyota dealership. Maybe a pizza dealership, but not Toyota.

CROUSE (67) – Scored a goal late in the 3rd period to put the Coyotes up 2-1 at the time. The goal came off a sick pass from ARCHIBALD.

ARCHIBALD (45) – As I just mentioned had a sick pass in the 3rd to CROUSE that put the Coyotes up 2-1 at the time.

COUSINS (25) – Somehow drew a penalty in the 2nd because a dude from the Canucks tripped over his stick. That call is about 50/50 but in this case it was pretty soft. Having said that though, he had a pretty bad game tonight with several turnovers.

I WOULD NEVER BOCA YOUR CHILD – I have no trouble boca-ing your hamster. I am not a fan of hamsters.

OESTERLE (82) – Another really good game for him. He was worth the contract extension the Coyotes gave him. He is by far the most consistent defensemen we’ve had for most of the season.

GOLIGOSKI (33) – Had a nutty delay of game penalty late in the 1st. I don’t even think I could accidentally chip the puck high enough to go over the glass on a clear if I tried. So I think what I am trying to say here is that getting a delay of game penalty takes mad skills.

WILD CARD WATCH - ST. LOUIS  Looked mortal tonight. It would have been nice to have them beat the STARS. Kind of odd when a team on a downward spiral beats a team that hasn’t lost since like last year. The STARS win 5-2. Elsewhere the WILD finally decided to win a game and beat the RANGERS 4-1. You will be able to see the standings and points in the graphic below. LA did lose tonight, so it may be just about time to stop worrying about what they do, at least unless they get on a major win streak or something. EDMONTON actually beat the ISLANDERS in OT, so they are now 6 points out of a WILD CARD spot, so even the Oilers have a bit of a shot if they can string together a bunch of wins.

STEPHAN (21) – Had some nice chances in the game but has been putting the puck over the net.

WRAP UP – It stinks that the Coyotes gave up a point to the CANUCKS tonight, but that is well overshadowed by the fact that they picked up another win. This keeps them just 1 point out of a playoff spot.
