WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (3) VS OILERS (2) 2/19/19 S/O

KEMPE (29) – Had 2 point blank shots in the 2nd, both accidentally hit the Oilers goalie. He did lead the team with 4 shots after 2 periods. Kempe had a nice pass to RICHARDSON that lead to the HINOSTROZA goal.  A very solid night for him.

HINOSTROZA (13) – Drove the net like a mad-man in the 3rd and didn’t score on the play, but stayed in the zone and put one in the net for the Coyotes 2nd goal.

CANADIAN TIRE – In its natural habitat, is known to be quite a bit more polite than the American tire.

WEAL (10) – Almost scored on a puck that hit his skate and nearly went 5 hole on Koskienen (the Oilers goalie). He was later murdered by Draisaitl, who laid a vicious hit on him, but this is hockey so he came right back to life seconds later.

RICHARDSON (15) – After 2 periods, RICHARDSON was 7 for 10 in the face-off circle.

GALCHENYUK (17) – Took a bad penalty against Chiasson after getting nailed against the boards on a legal hit. At the time the Coyotes were 0-4 on the PP so taking a penalty was the last thing we needed. Needless to say, he did make up for it putting a puck past the Oilers goalie in OT.

KELLER (9) – Appeared to be active in the offensive zone all game, but didn’t register a single shot on net.

THE WILD – Continue their plan to let other teams into the playoffs. They lost another game 4-0 to the Hapless DUCKS who have actually had a few wins here lately. The WILD stay stuck at 60 pts on the season.

FISCHER (36) – 2 shots on net. A decent outing but not his best game.

ARCHIBALD (45) – Found a rebound just kinda laying around on the ice, chilling out. So he put it into a wide open net for the Coyotes 1st goal. Unfortunately he took a hooking penalty mid-way through the 3rd. At the time it put the Coyotes on a 3-5 PK. The good news was the Coyotes killed that off.

CROUSE (67) – Had a slight breakaway in the 1st, but the shot was too close in on the Oilers goalie and in spite of a great move to the net, the shot didn’t go in.

GARLAND (83) – One shot on net tonight and a turnover in OT. It’s fine though. He was the reason we beat the Oilers last time we came to town.

HJALMARSSON (4) – Did a pretty good job tonight chipping the puck out of the defensive zone late in the game when we needed it.

CHYCHRUN (6) – Missed a wide open net in OT.

STEPHAN (21) – Also put a puck over the net in OT.

MC-NUGGET - Conor McDavid wasn’t in the Oilers lineup tonight.

OEL (23) – Had a really good chance to score late in the 2nd and bounced it off the post. Overall the Coyotes had a least 3 shots that could have easily gone in, in the 2nd but didn’t.

GOLIGOSKI (33) – 3 shots on net and about a million minutes of ice time. 2nd only to OEL.

CONNAUTON (44) – Was solid on the boards against the Edmonton forwards late when we needed energy and clears. Overall I felt he had a very good game.

WE’VE GOT A SAYING AROUND HERE – If the skates don’t stop it, it’s probably GALCHENYUK storming the net.

KUEMPER (35) – Another extremely solid outing. Outside of some tired legs late in the 3rd, the D also did a nice job in front of him.

WRAP UP  The Coyotes are now just 1 point out of the final Wild Card spot. Something that also should not be ignored, they are also just 4 points out of the 1st Wild Card spot. Both The Wild and Stars are on losing streaks.
