IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : COYOTES (1) VS BLACKHAWKS (0) 3/26/19

HINOSTROZA (13) – His speed is intimidating, but we didn’t see enough of it tonight. Overall gotta love his game, but I would love to see him get it going.

IT NEVER TOO EARLY TO PANIK (14) – Had a good steal that lead to a shot on net. It was right at Crawford, but the plays was heads up to even get the chance. After 2 periods he lead the team in shots with 3. In the 3rd PANIK ran over Patrick Kane like he was a stack of hay. Like really light weight space age hay.

RICHARDSON (15) – After his HAT-RICHARSDSON a bunch of games ago, his offense has kind of dried up, but you kind of get the feeling him and GRABNER are due for some magic.

GALCHENYUK (17) – Shot a puck into outer space in the 3rd. Not sure what happened there. NASA is still looking for it. About halfway through the 3rd he had a sick move to the net and almost put it in. GALCHENYUK has a great shot, but this time of year we need those drives to the net. He ended up with just 1 shot on net but had 5 hits.

DEFENSE – In this one the Coyotes were a LOT more patient than usual trying to make smart plays often passing it back into their own zone just to manage the puck and keep it away from the Blackhawks. The Coyotes didn’t score as much as they are going to need to, but they had a bunch of good shots on net and held the Blackhawks in check.

STEPAN (21) – His beard is slowly entering the Twilight Zone. His calmness on the ice seems to be starting to impact the rest of the team. That and great coaching from Tocc.

COUSINS (25) – Scored a goal on the PP after OEL put the puck on his stick with a really nice drive and pass. The first shot didn’t go in, but Nick was able to bury the rebound. Pretty decent for a guy that was a healthy scratch last game. He finished the game with the most shots on net.  On net being the key here. The celly by COUSINS was awesome. I am a little surprised his arm didn't go flying down the ice.

TYSON – “Safety First” lol

FISCHER (36) – Had a nice shot in the 1st on Crawford, a little higher on that shot and it probably goes in the net.

GRABNER (40) – Had one of his patented breakaways in the 3rd, but sent it over the net.

ARCHIBALD (45) – Had a very solid game, but on the PP in the 3rd he let a Chicago player get behind him for a shot on KUEMPER. That can’t happen down the stretch.

CROUSE (67) – Made a ridiculous pass in the 2nd to ARCHIBALD who almost tipped it in passed the Blackhawks tender. Hockey is a game of inches especially when it comes to scoring. This was another case where 1 inch one way or the other would have meant a goal. In the 3rd he was all over the Blackhawks on a certain sequence and drew a penalty.

OVER TO YOU LOGO – I don’t think that logo is going to say anything. It just sits there.

HJALMARSSON (4) – Had a really good game. 1 turnover that was notable, but overall, very solid.

KELLER (9) – I don’t recall the last time he got a penalty, but got called for interference in the 2nd.  Unfortunately that is about all I can say about his night tonight.

WHAT THE CRAP – Todd, we don’t care about your love affair with Patrick Kane dude.

CHYCHRUN (6) – Made a poor defensive play in the 2nd that almost lead to a goal, but KUEMPER managed to bail him out.

OEL (23) – He has been on a huge streak of great games. This was another one of those. Very very good effort and almost had an empty netter late in the 3rd.

GOLIGOSKI (33) – Ripped a shot on net in the 1st from down town. It didn’t go in, but the Coyotes were at least firing early.

DEMERS (55) – Along with GALCHENYUK had the most hits on the night. It clearly frustrated the Hawks top guys.

DVORAK (18) – At the end of the 2nd said he was counting on an “Odd Man Rush” to put a goal in the back of the net. Sometimes at this point in the year, you almost have to jam the net to get a goal when the game calls for it.

DEBRINCAT – Sounds like the perfect name for an appliance company.

OESTERLE (82) – Solid all around.

KUEMPER (35) – This guy deserves some damn offense. Fantastic in net again.

3 OUT OF 4 – Both teams played 3 games in 4 nights. The Coyotes looked as if they had played just 1, not tired and ready to go.

WRAP UP - The Coyotes did what they were going to do. It would be nice if Vegas decides they want to play hockey tomorrow night. In any case the Coyotes will need to handle business in Colorado. The Coyotes best possible finish is 91 pts. They are currently at 81 pts. The Avs best possible finish is 93 pts. They are also at 81 pts. The Wild's best possible finish is now 89 pts. They are at 79 pts. Here is where teams are in trouble. The Blackhawks might be done at 76 pts with a best possible finish is now 88 pts. The same applies to the Oilers even though they won tonight. The Canucks are also probably done with 74 pts and a best possible finish of 86 pts.
