WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (3) VS BLUES (1) 3/12/19

WHAT I SAW : COYOTES (3) VS BLUES (1) 3/12/19

OUT-FACE-OFFED – Yeah that’s a word.

GALCHENYUK (17) – Not much in the way of shots tonight, but he made smart plays when we needed it and that’s key in a back to back.

PANIK (14) – Had a sick pass from the BLUES goal tender and put it right in the net for the Coyotes 1st goal. Odd, but we will take it. He also lost his mind on the Blues captain because the whole team is playing pissed right now.

BEEF HINOSTROZA (13)  Several odd passes to nowhere tonight. I love his game most nights, but he did not seem focused on puck possession tonight. His goal featured zero excitement in the 3rd. He just looked pissed most of the night.

KELLER (9) – It kinda sucks that every time he gets down the ice on offense, he’s basically alone. I don’t know if Tocc needs to change anything, but you can pretty much see on most nights when KELLER scores it’s a lot of his own effort and that might be part of why this year hasn’t been as “full blast” as it could be.

RICHARDSON (15) – Had a nice little assist on HINOSTROZA’s goal. Really good to see him back on the ice after last night.

MICROSCOPIC – There are scientists all over the planet right now trying to find evidence of Coyotes shots in the 1st period.

KUEMPER (35) – What a bounce back game. He was like a brick wall when he needed to be. 39 saves on 40 shots. What a freakin outstanding game.

TAC WINGS – If TAC Sunglasses can help me see like an eagle…can TAC wings help me fly like one?

OESTERLE (82) – Was really solid on the puck tonight. Not a lot on the stat line, but just some smart play like a lot of the team tonight.

DEMERS (55) – I know it was a long road back for him, but a solid night logging the most minutes of any of our defensemen.

LYUBUSHIKIN (46) – Got In a huge fight behind the net with one of the Blues. He lost the fight, but it came right after the Coyotes scored their first goal and seemed to spark the team. Apparently the dancing bear mostly dances and rarely fights.

GOLIGOSKI (33) – Was tied with COUSINS and HINOSTROZA in blocks for the night with 3.

“IT’S EVEN FAST IN SLOW MOTION” – Matt McConnel l

OEL (23) – Went into the boards hard in the 2nd. Looks like he had a pretty good gash above his eye. This game was probably the most physical game I have seen the Coyotes play all season. He did come back out a bit into the 3rd period, but wasn’t on the bench to start it, probably due to protocol. He puts the nail in the BLUES coffin for the night with an empty netter with 21 seconds to go.

HJALMARSSON (4) – Had some really smart moves moving up into the offensive zone in the 3rd. He even put a good shot on the Blues tender. Overall I felt like he had a pretty solid game especially in those fights up against the boards.

CROUSE (67) – Smashed Schenn into to corner boards by the Coyotes bench. I hope he’s okay.  Schenn used to play for us and was very well liked. Actually no...that was the other Schenn as a fan pointed out. Well, I hope he's okay anyway.

HOW MUCH LETTUCE – Is it going to take, to prove this taco’s not heart break. Settle down Filibertos. There is still like a pound of lettuce in the bag.

ARCHIBALD (45) – Had a late breakaway with seconds left in the 2nd, but the puck was just about out of reach and his shot didn’t get the mustard or the ketchup…or nearly the ranch he needed.

GRABNER (40) – Had a huge breakaway in the 2nd, lost the puck, had time to go see a movie, then go back and get it and start his breakaway again, but couldn’t score on the play. In the 3rd he had yet another breakaway because he is made out of pure “fast” but also didn’t score on that one. Actually you know what…I will admit it…GRABNER had 1 million breakaway’s tonight. He’s still on a breakaway right now.

FISCHER (36) – Showed some good energy along the boards tonight. I have been picking on him for a few games now, but tonight he was checked into hotel “EFFORT”. Deep into the 3rd, he actually led the Coyotes in shots with 4.

KEMPE (29) – Can we get this kid a little more ice time? He had good energy and smart passes again tonight. In a back to back, I think he’d get more ice time, but it is what it is.

12 – The number of shots the Coyotes had after 2 periods. How is that even possible after how nuts that 2nd period was?

COUSINS (25) – Took a bad penalty with 2:36 to go in the game. It lead to the only Blues goal of the entire night. The good news was that he was otherwise pretty solid.

DVORAK THE CONQUEROR (18) – Really solid night for him. Like with most of the team though, I would liked to have seen a few more shots.

WRAP UP - Things kind of went our way last night if we were going to have a nutty loss like that. Tonight the ship was put back on course and for the first time this season the Coyotes will sit in a WILD CARD sport for more than 2 hours at least. Only 1 other game affecting the Coyotes tonight and I will give my in-depth wildly entertaining insight on that game below. Actually nevermind. Blogger is being dumb tonight. It took me like 10 tries to get the banner to load tonight. Just know that we can't count on Buffalo for anything...because they suck. The lose to the Stars 2 to 0. We'd like the Stars to lose, but maybe not on Thursday if we win. They are playing Minnesota.
