IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : COYOTES (2) VS JETS (4) 4/6/19
SEASON NOTE : I am ridiculously
proud of this team this year and can’t wait to write about them next season. The Coyotes are clearly #1 for me NHL wise ,
but I am also a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes, so starting their playoff
series with the Caps I will be covering each of those games that I am able to
watch.
PICKARD (30) – It’s good to see him in net tonight.
Apparently this was
KEUMPER’s idea. With the Coyotes out of the playoffs, it’s
good for PICKARD to get the experience. Having said that the performance wasn’t
impressive so if he’s not back next year I wish him the best. Unless he’s
playing against the Coyotes.
CONNAUTON (44) – Was hitting everything tonight. He lead the
team with 7 hits.
KELLER (9) – Stated out the season pretty well. Had some
flashes here and there. Next year the real expectations kick in. He probably
needs to put on some weight and muscle, but I think he will be fine. He did finish the team as the leading scorer (goals/assists).
PP – After period 1 the team was 100% on the Power Play.
Someone might want to keep the tape of this game, just to have proof that
happened.
HINOSTROZA (13) – Had a sick pass to RICHARDSON in the 2nd,
but
RICHARDSON couldn’t get the puck past Hellebuyck on his shot. In the 3rd
we had basically the same thing happen, only this time RICHARDSON buried it.
HJALMARSSON (4) –Gets the hardest working player of the year
award. He will probably still be blocking shots on net after the season is
over.
RICHARDSON (15) – After 2 period he was the only forward with
over 1 shot on net. He added to his shot total on a pass from HINOSTROZA in the
3rd making the scored 4-2 Jets at the time.
GALCHENYUK (17) – Scored on the very first shot of the game
for the Coyotes on a puck that got tipped up over the Jet’s goalies glove by a
Winnipeg player. I think everyone would say that GALCHENYUK was solid this
year, but his potential is sky high, so it will be nice to see him gel with the
team next season.
OEL (23) – Quiet night for him after his penalty.
STEPHAN (21) – Quiet night overall.
THAT KID – Dressed up as Tyson Nash was beyond epic!!
COUSINS (25) – Late in the game he had the least amount of
time on the ice. His last name also still makes me think of the Cousins Lobster
Food truck.
DEMERS (55) – Decent night for him. 2 shots on net was more
than a lot of the forwards.
KACHINA – This will make a lot of people cringe and a lot
of people happy. During the 1st intermission we got told on the
broadcast that the KACHINA jersey will be back next year. You all know I can’t
stand that damn thing, but for the fans that love it, I am happy for them.
GOLIGOSKI (33) – Probably got away with 3 or 4 hundred
penalties in the 2nd.
FISCHER (36) – Not much going on for him tonight.
GRABNER (40) – Holds the Coyotes single season record for
short-handed goals with 6. Tonight he had an assist on the 2nd goal
of the night for the Coyotes.
SOGGY SALADS AND COLD PIZZA – Gross
13 – The number of shots the Coyotes had after 2 periods.
That definitely is not going to cut it.
ARCHIBALD (45) – Got called for goal-tender interference in
the 3rd. The call doesn’t make any sense since ARCHIBALD slashed the
goalie well before the puck went in the net, and was never in the blue paint.
Having said that, the penalty isn’t what bothers me, as much as the
inconsistency on this particular call all season long.
CROUSE (67) – 2 shots on goal, 3 hits and a block on the
night.
CUSTOMIZATION – I have thought about this long and hard. I
am never going to customize my calves.
GARLAND (83) – A rare unimpressive game from him tonight.
WRAP UP –The team would have played Kemps tonight if needed,
but what probably killed us most was the loss to LA a few nights ago. I think
tonight if the game had been the difference between getting in the playoffs and
being out we’d have gotten a different result. Sitting here watching Colorado
on the brink of a loss tonight, it just shows you how close they were this
season. Can’t wait till next season. I freakin love this team. The season overall should be celebrated. It’s
the closest this team has been to turning things around in 6 years.
