IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : HURRICANES (2) VS CAPITALS (1)
4/18/19
MAENALANEN (8) – Not much on the stat line tonight, outside
of 4 important hits.
STAAL (11) – Just one shot on net the entire game, but he
really wore down the caps with 6 hits.
FOEGELE (13) – Put one past Holtby in the 1st
just 17 seconds into the game . Yeah – that happened. He
later committed a terrible penalty against Oshie that sent him to the locker
room. I can’t stand the Caps but I hate seeing any major injuries in the playoffs.
WILLIAMS (14) – Lead the team in shots late into the 3rd
with 4 shots. He ripped a nice shot on the Caps goalie at around the mid-way
point of the 3rd period.
AHO (20)- Sometimes just goes sliding down on the ice when
no one touches him.
NIEDERREITER (21) – Really solid game out of him and he also
got an assist on the TERAVAINEN goal.
McGINN (23) – Second most time on the ice of all forwards.
PP – The only scary thing I saw from the CANES tonight. They
need to get this going headed back to DC with the series tied 2-2.
JUMPING BEAN – How the NBCSN announcer described the puck
late in the game. Yeah, like a really heavy volcanized rubber jumping bean. Lol
BROWN (36) – Everyone on the CANES had an above average
game. I would like to see more shots from BROWN though.
McKEGG (42) – Crushed it in the faceoff circle winning 67%
of his draws.
MARTINOOK (48) – Left the game early due to a lower body
injury. He ended up logging just 4:39 ice time for the game. Hoping he gets back soon, because he is a huge
cog in the CANES engine.
FOOD – I am a little afraid of tacos that talk to you.
TERAVAINEN (86)- Scored a goal with 27 seconds to go in the
2nd period. Man this thing was a beauty.
HAMILTON (19)- Love his game, but I would advise him to
never, never pass the puck right in front on your net in the 3rd
period just 1 goal up, in the Playoffs against the Stanley Cup Campions,
especially on a school night.
OVECHKIN – Got hit around like a piñata tonight. Especially
as the game worn on in the 3rd period.
PESCE (22) – Logged a ton of ice time tonight. Not quite as
much as FAULK, but the team really relies on these guys and they came through.
THE FANS IN CAROLINA – Freakin rocket fuel. What an
atmosphere!!
FAULK (27) – Lit it up with 5 shots on net. I love that.
C. De HAAN (44) – Solid game. 4 hits. We will take it.
VAN RIEMSDYK (57) – He’s built RIEMSDYK tough.
SLAVIN (74) – Probably one of the most under-rated
defensemen in the league. Unless you live in the Carolina’s, then you know what’s
up.
MRAZEK (34) – Was phenomenal again tonight, allowing just 1
goal.
WRAP UP – The CANES have evened the series up and in at
least the last 2 games a piece . Now the series is headed back to DC where the
boys will need to take smart defense into this next game.
