IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : HURRICANES (2) VS ISLANDERS (1) 4/28/19

MAENALANEN (8) – Had an assist on the FOEGELE goal in the 3rd.

STAAL (11) – Logged 4 hits and the most ice time of any of the forwards.

NBC – This garbage network still won’t give the CANES any freakin credit. They need to let Kathrine and JR talk and keep everyone else off the air. And now I will let you know how I really feel.

FOEGELE (13) – Buried a shot 17 seconds into the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1. It was the first really solid breakaway for the entire game. The CANES did have a few 2 on 1 opportunities in the game, but the defense jacked them up or the play just never materialized.

WILLIAMS (14) – Somehow got a 2 minute minor called on him in the first after getting held and smashed against the boards. Nice. That Islanders PP lead to the SLAVIN goal against MRAZEK. You read that right. The CANES scored the first goal of the game on themselves.

AHO (20) – Won half of his face offs. Not a ton on the score sheet for him today, but he did a great job getting up into the offense.

NIEDERREITER (21) Scored the 2nd goal for the CANES just over a minute into the 3rd. This one he had net front presence on and just tipped the puck into the net while it was in mid-air.

BOW WOW WOW – Yipee, yo, yippee yay!!

McGINN (23) – Was great today, all over the ice. He lead the team with 5 hits.

BROWN (36) – Not a great game for him. He logged the lowest amount of ice time for any of the forwards.

CROSSBAR  - The Islanders hit the crossbar twice in the 3rd.

McKEGG (42) – A solid outing for him today.

COORS LIGHT – Freakin gross.

BISHOP (64) – Lead the team in shots on goal after the 1st period with 2. He looked pretty good on the ice and definitely had good energy early in the game.

WALLMARK (71) – Had 1 assist.

TERAVAINEN (86) – Had a solid game. 1 Assist and 3 shots on goal.

HAMILTON (19) – Caught a puck in the defensive zone and kept it in his glove for like 5 seconds, acting like he had no idea where it was. Classic. His defense overall today was very solid, in spite of his delay of game penalty in the 3rd.

PESCE (22) – Was on his game all day today. He had a really nice shot opportunity in the 3rd, but couldn’t quite get it past the Islanders tender. He  shined today during a PK with a solid clear and breaking up a few Islanders plays.

FAULK (27) – Lead the team in shots with 3 after the 2nd period.

VAN RIEMSDYK (57) – Got nailed by an Islanders player in the 1st period in the first minute of the game. Afterwards he headed to the locker room. It looked like a shoulder issue, but he was able to get off the ice on his own.  He did not return to the game.

SLAVIN YOUR BEST FOR LAST (74) – Scored the Islanders 1st goal of the game. They couldn’t go it themselves (literally getting shut out for almost 6 entire periods so far in the series), so, just a little help for the home team there.

HE’S THE MRAZEK  MAN….(34) – Unfortunately after just about 37 minutes into the game, he must have had a weird stretch and injured himself. He was unable to finish the game.

McELHINNEY (35) – Once he came in he shut the door with 17 stops.

WRAP UP – You can’t only play defense and expect to beat the CANES. That just won’t work.
