IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : HURRICANES (4) VS CAPITALS (3) 4/24/19

MAENALANEN (8) – Great defensively all night. He did take 1 minor penalty.

STAAL (11) – Scored far side on the Caps goalie early in the 3rd. This is the STAAL I remember. He also lead the team in hits with 8.

FOEGELE (13) – 23:09 on the ice. Not his best game.

WILLIAMS (14) – Had an assist on the Double OT goal. He also had 5 shots on goal and 4 hits.

AHO (20) – Buried a short-handed rebound against Holtby. It made the game 2-1 Capitals at the time. He also missed a bouncing puck pass on a 2 on 1 in the first OT, but later McGINN would make that not matter.

NIEDERREITER (21) – Solid game for him. 4 shots on net.

McGINN (23) – Knocked a puck out of mid air in Double OT to win the game 4-3 for the CANES. It was a good game for him, but this one really meant everything to the CANES advancing. McGINN is also the reason we even got an overtime saving a goal by diving for a puck that got behind MRAZEK late in the 3rd.

BROWN (36) – Only had 8:07 of ice time.

THE TALK – Going down, way down.

McKEGG (42) – Was up in the play a lot of this game.

MARTINOOK (48) – Brought a lot of energy. 2 hits, but 2 of the Caps goals came when he was on the ice.

TERAVAINEN (86) – Ripped one past Holtby making it 2-3 Capitals lead. He really wasn’t even facing the net when he started the shot. Talk about sneaky offense.

DOING THE BIRD DANCE – You do your bird dance Caps player. I can’t stand your team, but you gotta love the celly.

HAMILTON (19) – Along with STAAL lead the team in hits with 8.

PESCE (22) – Had 2 nice assists. He another guy I would like to see take a few shots more each game.

FAULK (27) – Had a great game. 3 shots on goal and 4 hits.

De HAAN (44) – Meh.

WENDY’S BIGGIE BAG – Is not everything I ever wanted…..it doesn’t have any shrimp in it.

VAN RIEMSDYK (57) – Logged the least amount of ice time of any of the CANES D-men.

SLAVIN (74) – Racked up 3 assists on the night.

MRAZEK (34) – Made a huge glove save in the 3rd that allowed the game to get into overtime. 34 saves overall on the game. Holtby his counterpart on the Caps made 38 largely due to the CANES dominance in shots in the OT frames.

WRAP UP - There is no actual footage of me jumping up and down and freaking out after the CANES completed the series comeback win, but that is exactly how it went down. On to Round 2.
