IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : HURRICANES (2) VS BRUINS (5) 5/9/19
STAAL (11)- Had an assist on the AHO goal. STAAL did take a
dumb penalty by ramming a Bruins player into the boards in the 3rd.
That penalty did lead to a Bruins PP that tied the game at 2-2. Several dumb
penalties by both teams tonight.
FOEGELE (13) – 3 shots on net deep into the 3rd.
WILLIAMS (14) – Just 2 shots on net tonight. Pretty low ice
time for him.
AHO (20) – Scored 3 seconds into the first Power Play of the
game. AHO had 3 shots on net after 2 periods.
YOU DON’T ALWAYS NIEDERREITER (21) – Took a dumb slashing
penalty in the 1st with 3:05 to go. Fortunately the penalty did not lead to a
Bruins goal. In the 2nd he hit the post in an attempt to put the
CANES up 2-1.
OH NO NOT THIS McGINN (23) – Not a great game for him. Just 1 shot on net,
but at least he didn’t commit a penalty in the 3rd period.
SVECHNIKOV (37) – Has a nice shot in the 1st that
was tipped in by AHO.
DON’T DRINK A McKEGG AND DRIVE HOME (42) – Scored a goal in the 2nd
. Not even a second after, he was shoved into the net knocking into the Bruins
tender, Rask. The Bruins were pissed, but McKEGG going into the net was clearly
due to the Bruins player shoving him. That goal put the CANES up 2-1 at the
time.
MARTINOOK (48) – Had an assist on the McKEGG goal. Gotta wonder if he’s injured with just 7:45 on
the ice in the entire game.
WALLMARK (71) – Just 1 shot on net.
FERLAND (79) – Had an assist on the McKEGG goal in the 2nd, but the Bruins goal in the 1st was due to his lack of effort on defense. He later took a bad penalty in the 2nd after the CANES pretty much dominated the entire period. He must not have gotten on the ice much in the 3rd, because his ice time was way down.
TERAVAINEN (86) – 3 shots and tons of ice time.
CHARA – Of the Bruins I believe is the biggest defensemen in captivity.
FLEURY (4) – No Fleury tonight. Literally nothing on his stat line.
HAMILTON (19) – Lead the team in shots on goal after 2 periods with 4. Stupidly later in the 3rd he took an idiotic penalty for a backward check and that PP for the Bruins lead to a 3-2 lead for the Bruins. Not long after that, he took yet another penalty for interference. It was a terrible start to the 3rd period for the CANES.
7 – The number of giveaways for the CANES after 2 periods. The Bruins had 6. Takeaways were tied at 4-4 after 2.
PESCE (22) – Uggh.. Lets not talk about it.
GENERAL ZOD – The Bruins tender Rask, looks like the dude that plays General Zod in MAN OF STEEL.
FAULK (27) – 3 hits and 2 shots on net.
DeHAAN (44) – Had 2 shots on the night.
3 – The number of minor penalties committed by the CANES in the 1st 5 minutes, 30 seconds of the 3rd period.
SLAVIN (74) – Basically saved a goal in the 3rd period that would have given the Bruins a 4-2 lead at the time.
MRAZEK (34) – Looked shaky in the 3rd. He was likely shaking off the dust, but going up against 5 power plays didn’t do him any favors.
WRAP UP – If you put good teams on the PP 5 times… you are asking for trouble. This is one the CANES need to shake off like games 1 & 2 in the Caps series. Game 2 is another 2 days away. The Bruins might need the break, but I am sure the CANES would like to get right back on the ice. Nothing to worry about at this point, but it would be nice if the CANES can grab one of the first 2 games. .
