IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : HURRICANES (5) VS ISLANDERS (2) 5/1/19

WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS!!!!!!!!!!

STAAL (11) – Had an assist on the FAULK goal in the 2nd and the TERAVAINEN goal in the 3rd.

FOEGELE (13) – Also had an assist on the FAULK goal and did just about everything else stat wise that you can do in a hockey game at least once.

WILLIAMS (14) – Had a great opportunity to score in the 2nd, but put it wide. Oh man, oh freakin man, soooo close. In the 3rd he got even closer and scored the 3rd goal of the game for the CANES giving them the lead 3-2 at the time.

AHO (20) – Made a huge defensive play in the 2nd breaking up a play defensively when the Islanders were coming down the ice 2 on 1.

NIEDERREITER (21) – Decent game for him. Just 2 shots on net, but he was key in getting the puck up the ice.

McGINN (23) – Had a good game. Not a great game.

BROWN (36) – Almost had a goal back in the 1st period, but just hit the side of the net. I think that is the first time I can say that for him. He also led the team in hits with 5.

SVECHNIKOV (37) – Really good to see him back. He put a puck right on the post in the first for his first shot attempt of the game. It didn’t go in, but it tells you he’s on target. He has missed 6 games of the playoffs after getting in a fight with Ovechkin in the last series.

McKEGG (42) – A slow night for him. Not terrible.

DUNCAN – The Walrus, kinda of wonder why he hasn’t been signed to an NHL team. He looked pretty solid in net in that GEICO commercial.

MARTINOOK (48) – 3 shots on goal tonight. You can feel he isn’t quite up to par just yet.

WALLMARK (71) – Had a nice shot on net in the 2nd. It wasn’t enough to get past the Islanders tender, but you gotta love it when guys are getting pucks on the net.

TERAVAINEN (86) – Put a puck in the net after a shot came to him off the inside of his skate. The Islanders goalie had apparently gone to get some coffee or something, because he was nowhere near where the puck was on the play. I hear the coffee in North Carolina is good, so you know…who can blame the guy.

HAMILTON (19) – Could not stay on his feet for a lot of the 3rd period.
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING – The Islanders scored their first goal of the series in the 1st period. While they were credited with a goal in the 2nd game, that goal was actually scored by a CANES player.

PESCE (22) – Took a massive hit in the 3rd, but got right back up.

THE INCREDIBLE FAULK (27) – Not sure his penalty in the 2nd was absolutely necessary, but of course the NBCSN announcers thought so, because they love Islanders power plays….or something like that. What was absolutely epic was when he came out of the box and knocked a pass from his teammate out of the air to take it down for a shot and a goal against Lehner. Forehand, backhand….goodnight.

DeHAAN (44) – Really solid night for him.

SLAVIN (74) – Is ridiculous. I find it pretty funny when other teams players think they are going to get it passed him one on one.

McELHINNEY (35) – Was up to par all night. I know he’s not the normal starter, but this guy started 33 games this year. Hardly a step down overall. I guess he is also the oldest goalie to start for the CANES in the playoffs or something like that. I don’t know. I was just paying attention to his outstanding play.

WRAP UP – The Islanders really need to push the panic button now.
