IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : COYOTES (3) VS OILERS (4) S/O 11/24/19

IT CAME FROM OUT OF THE ICE : COYOTES (3) VS OILERS (4)  S/O 11/24/19

CAPSULE : 1. an enclosing structure, as a soluble container enclosing a dose of medicine. 2. a cartilaginous, fatty, fibrous, or membranous structure enveloping another structure, organ, or part. 3. an extremely brief condensation.

SODERBERG (34) – I think I have been tough on him lately, but he put a bullet of a shot on goal in the 1st period on the Coyotes 2nd Power Play and tied the game at 1-1 at the time. Soderberg is up to 7 goals this season.

STEPAN (21) – Looked a bit off tonight having some of his passes be just a bit off.

MANDELORIAN - I really wish this show had been about a dude that was part man, part Delorean.

RICHARDSON (15) Caught a puck right in the mouth in the 2nd period and left the ice. Not quite as bad as last night when Keith Yandle of the Panthers lost 9 teeth on a play and ended up coming back into the game for the 3rd period. Richardson did return to the ice.

DVORAK (18) Not much going on for him tonight. He did register 1 hit.

SCHMALTZ (8) – Committed a delay of game penalty (or at least served the penalty). Unfortunately on that Power Play the Oilers put a goal past Kuemper making the scored 1-0 at the time.

HOW IS IT – That Romaine seems to be the main lettuce that seems to be involved when there are salmonella issues?

GARLAND (83) – Seems like he has more energy tonight than most everyone on the Oilers team. He had a great opportunity on a give and go with Soderberg in the 3rd but missed the net. He also missed a rare goal in the shoot-out. He’s been very good at that this year.

HAYTON (29) – 3 hits and a shot on goal. Another decent night for him. I think I would rather have seen him take the 3rd shot in the shootout, rather than Hinostroza.

KESSEL (81) – Got a pass from Schmaltz early in the game and almost buried it. He also had another nice shot on the Coyotes 2nd Power Play of the game, it didn’t go in, but the Power Play looked pretty solid the first couple of times they went out there.

GRABNER (40) Almost had a goal in the 1st period trying to direct a hard pass past the Oilers goalie, but it hit the post.

KELLER (9) – Had 3 shots on goal, but didn’t have a great night overall.

FISCHER (36) Crushed one in the 2nd period after a great pass from Grabner and tied the game up 2-2. On that play he got hit hard by McDavid and held on to McDavid’s leg for a bit before skating down the ice to get back into the play. Fischer and Hinostroza led the Coyotes in shots after 2 periods.

HINOSTROZA (13) – In the 2nd period he passed it over, a shot was taken and the rebound came right back to him. He then scored on a bad angle shot. I am kind of shocked the play was not reviewed because an Edmonton player was clearly shoved into the net in front of their goalie Koskinen. I am guessing they ruled that the goalie had time to get back into position prior to the shot.

OEL (23) – Crushed Chiasson in the first behind the net. Early on he looked really engaged. He jacked Nurse right in the neck after Nurse ran him right into the Coyotes net well after the whistle had blown. OEL had a play in the 3rd catching up to McDavid to mess up a shot on a big breakaway. Really, really good night for OEL aside for the shoot out loss.

DEMERS (55) – Had to blocks and a fair night defensively.

CREEPY – That Jimmy John’s “Little John” commercial is a little creepy.

CHYCHRUN (6) – One of the best Coyotes on the ice tonight. He had an assist and was all over the place, in the good way.

GOLIGOSKI (33)  Registered 3 assists in the first 2 periods and told Tyson he “wasn’t doing much”. Hahahaha…no biggie.

LYUBUSHKIN (46) – Saved a goal in the 2nd on a puck that got behind Kuemper. There were a few plays in the 3rd when I would have loved to see him a bit stronger on the puck getting it out of the zone.

OESTERLE (82) Another very solid night for him.

TYSON – “Hockey is still 60 minutes” - Tyson Nash

KUEMPER (35)  Got decked in the 1st period and knocked down by an Oilers player. No penalty was called. I guess you just have to deal with things like that when you have the 2nd best save percentage in the NHL. He also got ran over in the OT. I guess that is what’s going on these days. It was a pretty solid night for him.

WRAP UP Prison rules. No penalties in the OT on either side, but there were several muggings that took place. This was a really solid game for the Coyotes but I am not crazy about the trend that they can’t seem to score more than 3 goals on any given night. The last time they scored more than 3 goals was against New Jersey on October 25th.
